1. What is t-resveratrol and how is it formed?
t-Resveratrol is a natural product formed in plants under stressful environmental conditions such as extreme weather (drought for example) and microbial (bacteria or fungi) infections. t-Resveratrol is called a phytoalexin and its role is to protect the plant against these conditions and infections. Grape skin is a good source of t-resveratrol. The t-resveratrol in LiXiR™ is an all natural, highly pure extract.

2. Why are there 2 types of resveratrol and which one should I take?
Resveratrol comes in 2 forms, or more correctly isomers. This is a natural phenomenon and occurs with many other compounds. Usually only one of the isomers is active because of the way it interacts with proteins in the body. The active form of resveratrol is the ‘trans’ form, commonly referred to as t-resveratrol. The other form is ‘cis’ and is not active in promoting health benefits. LiXiR™ contains 100mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule.
|
3. There are cheaper t-resveratrol supplements out there, why is LiXiR™ more expensive?
Not all t-resveratrol supplements are made equally. LiXiR™ guarantees that the content of each capsule contains the stated quantities of t-resveratrol. The quality of our tests is based on the best analytical scientific methods available. This ensures you are getting what you paid for and not a cheaper product containing diluted resveratrol or a cheaper combination product containing mainly emodin (a component which causes diarrhea) and ‘cis’, with a very small amount of t-resveratrol. LiXiR™ contains 100mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule.

4. What is the Australian grape skin extract?
The Australian grape skin extract was developed by Peter Voigt along with advice and support from Dr Joseph Maroon (author of the book The Longevity Factor: How Resveratrol and Red Wine Activate Genes for a Longer and Healthier Life). Testing on the Australian grape skin extract found that this proprietary blend of phytonutrients combined with a powerful dose of t-resveratrol showed the two components have a synergistic effect and an increased ORAC value (a measure of anti-oxidant capacity) than either one alone. The Australian grape skin extract is sourced from the finest wineries in Australia by LiXiR™ Products and is exclusive to LiXiR™. Each LiXiR™ capsule contains 40mg of natural Australian red grape skin extract.
|
5. What are the benefits of using liquid capsules?
LiXiR™ has a unique formulation among t-resveratrol supplements. LiXiR™ is formulated in a gel capsule with a liquid centre enabling it to dissolve faster. This can improve absorption and therefore increase the amount of active t-resveratrol getting into the body quicker.

6. I am a vegetarian, can I take LiXiR™?
LiXiR™ is an all natural product and contains no animal products. The shell is made from Vegicaps® (a plant based gelatin material) and is safe for consumption by vegetarians and others who cannot consume animal based products.
|
7. Does LiXiR™ contain alcohol?
There is absolutely NO alcohol present in LiXiR™. Studies have shown the benefits of red wine are due to the polyphenolic anti-oxidants present in the grape skins - not the alcohol content. Therefore, LiXiR™ only contains the goodness from Australian grape skins along with t-resveratrol.
|
8. How many capsules per bottle? How many should I take?
Each bottle of LiXiR™ contains 30 liquid Vegicaps. The recommended dose is 1-2 capsules per day, although 1 capsule per day seems to be a good dose.
|
9. Is LiXiR™ available at any retail outlets?
LiXiR™ is currently available from selected Healthy Life stores in Victoria, Australia. The following Healthy Life stores stock LiXiR™: Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre, Box Hill Centro and Westfield Airport West Shopping Centre.
